Thermal imaging is a non-invasive inspection technique used to identify temperature differences and potential areas requiring further investigation. It does not replace electrical testing, commissioning tests or specialist electrical fault diagnosis.

What is solar panel thermography?
Thermography is the use of an infrared camera to view temperature differences across PV modules and accessible components. It can highlight patterns that are not visible during a standard visual inspection.
Can thermal imaging detect faulty solar panels?
Thermal imaging may identify localised heating or abnormal temperature differences between similar modules. These observations can indicate an area that may warrant further investigation, rather than a confirmed fault.
When is the best time to carry out thermal imaging?
Suitable conditions generally mean good irradiance, dry panels and stable weather, typically around the middle of a bright day. We will reschedule where conditions are unsuitable.
Does every PV system need thermal imaging?
No. Thermal imaging is an optional upgrade to the standard PV inspection. It is most useful where performance concerns exist or where a deeper look at the array is wanted.
Will I receive the thermal images?
Yes. Where thermography is included, thermal images and the related observations are provided in your PV Inspection Report.
